The Secret Lake
Can you summarise the story in three or four sentences?
Well, there were two children called Tom and Stella and they discovered a secret lake in their garden! They went back 100 years and made a friend called Emma. They made another friend called Jack and Emma’s Mum and Dad thought he stole something from their house. It was quite gripping and sometimes scary but they caught the real culprit in the end.
Who was your favourite character and why?
My favourite character was Stella because she was exciting and adventurous and always found her way out of a bad or scary situation.
Was the end what you were expecting? If not, why not?
Definitely not! An old lady called Mrs Moon lived next door to Tom and Stella and said she was about 105 years old. What I didn’t know was Mrs Moon was actually Emma from the future!
How many stars out of five would you give the book and why?
5, definitely. It was a really gripping story and a little bit scary in some parts but I liked it. It was also funny too. It was a really really thrilling book.
